So, in February, we got this little snippet of news from SoA Creator (an TV God) Kurt Sutter via Twitter:
“Soon to be taking meetings about an SOA game. Have a major gaming company interested. Trying to figure out costs, platform and timing….To do a quality platform-based game costs tens of millions and takes years. We’re toying with the idea of a high-end browser-based game.”
“had a great meeting with a big distributor…everyone at FX and Fox is committed to making this happen,” and subsequently, “Yes, we definitely wanna do a REAL game. Console based. Not some slapcrap browser MP thing. It’ll take awhile, but it’s the right way to go.”
So, it looks like we will be seeing a SoA game in the near future (though, Sutter goes on to ensure, we are in the VERY early stages yet). Furthermore, it looks like someone slapped some sense into him (I am guessing Bobby Elvis) and convinced him console was the way to go. For this, I am glad. While I don’t hate the idea of a browser game, I haven’t found one with much substance…and a SoA game without substance doesn’t make much sense to me. If he wants to steer clear from “too many chefs”, there is always the downloadable gaming marketplace (a’la The Walking Dead:The Game)…But, personally, i would like to see Rockstar take on SAMCRO.
